You Know You’re Feeling Better When…

Early this week, I knew I’d be somewhat busy with family activities and had planned to get back to blogging again on Thursday. Well, things did not go as planned. I developed chills mid-morning on Thursday along with a loss of appetite. Then woke up with a sore throat on Friday to go with the chills and no desire for food. I think I ate three total bites of some leftover pasta on Friday. Yesterday was an improvement but still not great. So basically, I did nothing but lay in bed, watch TV and periodically check into Facebook for those three days. Today?

You know you’re feeling better when you wake up hungry and actually feel like taking a shower.

You know you’re feeling better when Mimi dog lies peacefully on the sofa after a leisurely walk to the park instead of looking mournful after being hustled around the block by her ailing mom.

You know you’re feeling better when you are moved to use those overripe bananas to make a batch of muffins.

You know you’re feeling better because you made some creamy broccoli soup to eat with those muffins.

You know you’re feeling better because you picked up the camera.

I’ll be slowly catching up with your posts throughout the day today and, hopefully, will resume regular posting tomorrow. I’ve got a fish story that I need to finish up anyway. That will be coming soon. πŸ™‚

      1. I’m actually flexitarian. I went completely vegan for most of last year but I’m soy intolerant and found it very difficult to maintain the diet without incorporating soy. You can if you’re willing to never eat prepared foods. I do like to cook but even I like to pop a frozen pizza in the oven or something like that once in a while. So I’m now trying to maintain about 2/3 vegan to 1/3 not.

      2. That was my problem as well. Soy made me terribly anemic. I later found out it blocks the absorption of Vitamin B12. I was on prescription meds for months to fix that.

As long as you’re giving the healthy life a go, I’m sure you’re fine. I like my frozen pizza as well, but there are vegan options for that too. Too expensive though. I think you either have to he rich or have a lot of time on your hands to do the vegan life full time.

      3. I agree. What I’m hoping is that as the diet becomes more mainstream, there will be more soy-free options coming along. And that the food will become cheaper as well. I think the environmental pressures from climate change, etc. will help to drive things in that direction anyway.

  1. Glad to hear you’re feeling better. I noticed in the comments some problems with a vegan diet. I got terribly sick in my twenties and it took about six years to fully recover. Flexitarian is the way to go unless someone is extremely careful. πŸ™‚

    1. Thank you! And yes, I would definitely recommend a flexitarian diet. Once you realize that you don’t need meat or animal products with every meal or even every day, it becomes easy enough to incorporate more vegetarian foods into your diet. Then you can also be more conscientious about the type of animal products you use and even pay more for them because you are using so much less. πŸ™‚

  2. Oh yes, I have days like that, when getting up and pouring a cup of coffee makes you want to take a nap, but then you suck it up and clean out the cobwebs and plan your day. Then at the end of the days you feel like you accomplished something monumental. Unfortunately many people don’t get past pouring the cup of coffee. The older you get sometimes the harder it gets but you know you can’t give in to it.
